Although Jolin Tsai had an interest in music, her commitment, as a child, was to the study of English. She majored in English Literature at Fu Jen Catholic University, a popular Taiwanese University. But, the tide changed when she decided, at age 18, to enter an MTV singing competition at the age of 18. She emerged the winner of the competition with her rendition of Whitney Houston’s #1 hit “Greatest Love of All”. She subsequentlty signed with Universal Music and has been just as intense with her energy and passion much the same way she approached her English studies.

She is often compared to Britney Spears and is now with Warner Music after her stint with Universal, Sony BMG and Capitol Records. This past Fall 2009, she launched her own clothing label “Seventy Two Changes” during New York Fashion Week in New York.
