Kinji, Hong Kong Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010

Japanese designer/label Kinji Spring.Summer 2010 collection was simple yet engaging. Its simplicity was reflected in fabric choices and simple color palettes like whites, grays and black. What it lacked in excitement in terms of fabric choices, it more than made up for with its Zen like geometric silhouettes which kept things very interesting and engaging.

Award winning Hong Kong Toy designer/painter/artist and fashion designer gave some inspiring couture work with his “the mummy returns meets halloween” chic collection. His lines were clean, easy draping, lots of creams and whites, cashmere, wools and harlequin masks! Although quite artsy, many of the pieces can be deconstructed into very wearable clothes. Although it was Hong Kong Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010, it felt more like Lau showed more of a Autunm/Winer 2009 collection.

Hong Fashion Week Spring Summer 2010 Collection held from July 6th-9th, 2009 at Hong Kong’s Convention and Exhibition Center had over 1,000 diverse particpants from 24 countries participate. On the runways besides the standouts like Chinese’s Phoebe Wong, Japanese label Kinji, Korean a collective of Korean designers , Supreme Corean, and italian designers such as Espen Salberg all showed their Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Considered the John Galliano of India, Manish Arora remains one of India’s talented and reputable designers locally and internationally. His creativity and willingness to think outside the box has made him rise to fame quickly. While not necessarily as recognized in the USA, he is known and shows at London Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week and has showed at Hong Kong Fashion Week.

Manish is an alumni of the National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi and launched his label “eponymous” in 1997. He owns five flagship stores in New Delhi and Mumbai. His designs are available in 84 retail stores worldwide and he has partnered with many leading companies including Reebok for numerous fashion/ad campaigns.
